ஆறு வகை முத்திரை விபரம்

சோதிஎன்ற மயேஸ்பரியைப் பூசை செய்யில்

சுகமான முத்திரையை சொல்லக் கேளு

ஆதி என்ற முத்திரைதான் ஆர்தான் காண்பார்

அருள்பெருகு முத்திரையை மனதிற் கொண்டு

நீதியுடன் ஆறுவகை முத்திரையைக் கேளு

நிசமான ஆவரகன் முத்திரைதான் ஒன்று

ஓதியதோர் தாவான முத்திரைதான் ஒன்று

உத்தமனே யோனி என்ற முத்திரைதான் ஒன்று

Translation:

Six types of mudras

While performing the worship of Maheswari

Listen to the types of mudra (that one holds)
Who will see the aadhi mudra

Holding the mudra that brings forth grace, mentally

Listen about the six mudras

The truthful aavarakan mudra is one

The recited thaavaana mudra is one

The supreme one!yoni mudra is one.

Commentary:

Murdras or hand gestures are used in several contexts such as yoga, rituals and dance.  Agatthiyar is talking about mudras in ritualistic worship of Sakthi. He talks about six types of mudras in this section beginning with a list.  He also adds that the aadi mudra or the primal seal is beyond normal perception.  One should hold this in mind while performing the six mudras externally.  The three mudras listed in this verse are aavarakan, thaavaana and yoni mudra.  One wonders whether aavarakan is actually aavaahana mudra and thaavaana mudra is sthaapana mudra.

பல சூழ்நிலைகளில் முத்திரைகள் அல்லது கைக்குறிக்கள் முக்கிய இடத்தை வகிக்கின்றன.  யோக முத்திரைகள், வழிபாட்டு முத்திரைகள், நாட்டிய முத்திரைகள் என்பவை இவற்றுள் சில.  இந்தப் பகுதியில் அகத்தியர் தேவி வழிபாட்டில் பயன்படுத்தப்படும் முத்திரைகளைக் கூறுகிறார்.  அவை ஆறு வகைகள் என்று கூறும் அகத்தியர் ஆதியான முத்திரையைக் காணக்கூடியவர் யாரும் இல்லை என்றும் இந்த முத்திரையை மனத்தில் கொண்டு இனி வரும் ஆறு முத்திரைகளை ஒருவர் வெளியில் காட்ட வேண்டும் என்கிறார்.  அந்த ஆறு முத்திரைகளில் முதல் மூன்று ஆவரகன், தாவான மற்றும் யோனி முத்திரைகள் என்கிறார் அவர்.  ஆவரகன் என்பது ஆவாகன முத்திரை என்றும் தாவான முத்திரை என்பது தாவன அல்லது ஸ்தாபன முத்திரை என்றும் இருக்கலாம் என்று தோன்றுகிறது.
