304. Vishnu's dhyana

Verse 304

மால்தியானம்

பாரப்பா மாலுடைய தியானங் கேளு

பத்தியுடன் பச்சை வர்ண ரூபமாக

நேரப்பா சங்கொடு சக்கரமுமாக

நிசமான புஷ்பமொடு சக்கரங்கள் சாத்தி

காரப்பா லக்ஷீமியும் வாமபாகம்

கண்ணரிந்த முத்திரையுந் துளசி மாலை

சேரப்பா லக்ஷீமியும் வாமபாகம்

தீர்க்கமுடன் தியானிக்கத் தியானமாச்சே

Translation:

Contemplation on Vishnu (Maal)

Listen son, about dhyana of Maal

With devotion, as of green hue

Along with conch and the disc

Along with flowers and cakra- adorn him

With Lakshmi on the left side

With the mudra of narrow eyes and garland of basil leaves

Add Lakshmi to the left side

Contemplating long is dhyana.

Commentary:

Vishnu is the lord of svadhishtana cakra.  After Brahma’s dhyana Agatthiyar is describing Vishnu’s dhyana.  He is contemplated in a green hued form, with conch and disc.  Garland of thulasi or basil leaves adorn him along with flowers.  His consort, Lakshmi, is present on his left.  Contemplation of this form is Maal dhyana.

விஷ்ணு சுவாதிஷ்டான சக்கரத்தின் அதிபதி.  பிரமனின் தியானத்துக்குப் பிறகு விஷ்ணு அல்லது மாலின் தியானத்தைக் கூறுகிறார் அகத்தியர்.  இதற்கு விஷ்ணு பச்சை நிறத்தவராக சங்கு சக்கரம் ஏந்தியவராக, மலர்மாலைகளையும் துளசி மாலையையும் அணிந்தவராக தனது இடது புறத்தில் லட்சுமியைக் கொண்டவராகத் தியானிக்கப்படுகிறார்.  இவ்வாறு தீர்க்கமாக தியானிப்பதே மால் தியானம் என்கிறார் அகத்தியர்.
