151. Tirumal's yoga nidra and final merging

Verse 151

ஆமென்ற சங்காரமாகிவருங்காலமதில்

திருமாலயனும் ஆலிலைமேற் பள்ளி

ஓமென்ற சயனமது ஒரு கோடி மீண்டால்

உத்தமனே நாகமதில் நித்திரையுமாவார்

தானென்ற நித்திரை முத்திரை மேலாகி

தன்னொளிவு விண்ணொளிவு சரியாய்ப் பார்த்து

நாமென்றும் இவரென்றும் நினையாமல் அந்த

நாதாந்த பூரணத்தில் பூரணமானாரே

Translation:

At the time when dissolution was happening

Thirumal will recline on banyan leaf

If that sleep of one crore (years) pass by

The Superior one!  He will slepp on the snake

If the mudra of sleep (yoga nidra) ascends

Perceiving the concealment of self and the space correctly

Without thinking “I” and “they”

He merged in the nadhantha poorna (the terminus of nadhantha)

Commentary:

Agatthiyar talks about the yoga nidra in this verse.  When the sarva samharam or dissolution happens Vishnu will sleep on the banyan leaf and after remaining so in yoga nidra he we attain the distinction-free state of singularity where he will realize the nature of Self and Space.  He will finally merge with the terminus of nadha or primordial sound.  The state of nadha starts manifestation.  Thus, Vishnu or Tirumal will reach the state that preceds manifestation.

யோகநித்திரையைப் பற்றி இப்பாடலில் பேசுகிறார் அகத்தியர்.  திருமால் எனப்படும் விஷ்ணு சர்வ சம்காரத்தின் முடிவில் ஆலிலையில் துயில்வார் என்றும் இந்த யோக நித்திரை ஒரு கோடி ஆண்டுகள் நடந்த பின் அவர் நாகணை மேல் துயில்வார் என்றும் அதன் பிறகு அவர் தான் பிறர் என்ற பாகுபாடுகளற்ற ஒருமை நிலையை அடைவார் என்றும் கூறும் அகத்தியர் முடிவில் அவர் நாதாந்த பூரண நிலையுடன் கூடுவார் என்று கூறி விஷ்ணுவின் ஆயுள்காலம் எவ்வாறு முடிகிறது என்று விளக்குகிறார்.
