178. Definition of rishi and muni

Verse 178

பாரடா ஆண் ரூபம் முநிதானாச்சு

பதிவான பெண்ரூபம் ரிஷிதானாச்சு

காரடா ரிஷிமுனிவர் கருணைதன்னை

கருணையுடன் கண்டறிந்து பூசை செய்ய

ஆரடா அறிவார்கள் ஆதியந்தம்

அரகரா ஆதியந்தம் ஆண்பெண்ணாச்சு

நேரடா ஆண் பெண்ணா இறந்தாலென்ன

நேர்மையுள்ள அறிவல்லோ சாக்ஷிதானே

Translation:

See son, the male form became the muni,

The female form became the rishi

Seek the mercy of rishi and muni

Knowing it well perform the puja

Who knows about the origina-terminus

Araharaa! The origin-terminus became male and female

So what if the male and female die

It is the consciousness which is the witness, isn’t it?

Commentary:

Agatthiyar describes a very important concept here.  The male yogin is called muni and the female yogin became the rishi.  However, it is the Supreme Reality, the Sivam which manifested as male and female.  Agatthiyar calls the Divine origin-terminus as it is the origin of everything and everything ends as the Divine.  He says, it doesnot matter if the male and the female forms die as they are all nothing but consciousness, the witness of everything.

அகத்தியர் இப்பாடலில் ஒரு முக்கியமான கருத்தைக் கூறுகிறார்.  ஆண் யோகி முனிவர் எனப்படுகிறார் என்றும் பெண் யோகி ரிஷி எனப்படுகிறார் என்றும் அவர் கூறுகிறார். இவ்வாறு தோன்றிய ஆணும் பெண்ணும் இறந்தால் அதைப் பற்றிக் கவலைப்பட வேண்டாம் ஏனெனில் அவ்வாறு தோன்றியது ஆதி அந்தம் எனப்படும் இறைவன் தானே என்கிறார் அகத்தியர்.  இந்த ஆதி அந்தமே அறிவாக, அனைத்துக்கும் சாட்சியாக இருக்கிறது.
