164. How to process the body-1

Verse 164

கேளடா பாலுடனே இளநீர் விட்டுக்

கிருபையுடன் தண்ணீரும் தேனுங் கூட்டி

சூளடா அபிஷேகம் நன்றாய்ச் செய்து

சுத்தமுடன் மேல்துவட்டிச் சமமாய் மைந்தா

ஆளடா அரை தனக்குப் பட்டு வஸ்த்திரம்

அன்பாகத் தான் அணிந்து அதின்மேற் கேளு

மேலடா பாதாதி கேசமட்டும்

மேன்மையுடன் விபூதி தூளிதமே செய்யே

Translation:

Listen son, tender coconut water along with milk

Adding water and honey

Perform abhisheka well

Wipe the body clean

Adorn silk cloth on the waist

With love.  Over it

From foot to head

Sprinkle the sacred ash

Commentary:

In the previous two verses Agatthiyar described how to construct the Samadhi or the tomb.  Here he talks about how to handle the body of the saint. 

Sacred ablution should be performed with water, honey, tender coconut water and milk.

The body should be wiped clean, adorned with silk cloth and sacred ash should be spread on it from head to toe.

முந்தைய இரு பாடல்களில் முக்தியடைந்த ஒரு ஆத்மாவின் சமாதியை எவ்வாறு கட்ட வேண்டும் என்று அகத்தியர் கூறினார்.  இங்கு அவரது உடலை சமாதிக்கு எவ்வாறு பதனப்படுத்தவேண்டும் என்று கூறுகிறார்.

உடலுக்கு தண்ணீர், இளநீர், தேன், பால் ஆகியவற்றால் ஆனா கலவையால் அபிஷேகம் செய்யவேண்டும்.  அதனை சுத்தமாகத் துவட்டிய பிறகு அரைக்கு பட்டு வஸ்த்திரம் அணிவிக்க வேண்டும்.  அதன் பிறகு கால் முதல் தலை வரை விபூதியைப் பூசவேண்டும்.
