152. Fate of Muni, rishi and devas

Verse 152

பூரணமாய் நின்றதொரு ரிஷிமுனிவர் தேவர்

பொருந்திநின்று வாதாரம் நன்றாய்ப் பார்த்து

காரணமாய்க் கருணையொளி பார்வையாலே

கணயோகமான சிவ நிஷ்டைகூடி

பாரணிந்த பூமிதனில் அனந்தங்கோடி

பத்தியுடன் தானிருந்து பரத்திற் செல்ல

நேரணிந்து நிலையறிந்து நிலையில் நின்று

நிசமான பூரணங்கண்டேறினாரே

Translation:

The rishi, muni and deva who remain fully complete

Will see the substratum by remaining there firmly

Due to the merciful effulgent divine vision of the Cause

Will remain in Siva nishtai, the yoga

In the earth that has adorned the worlds

Remain with devotion and go to Param

Remaining in that state with awareness

Will ascend after experiencing the truthful fully complete.

Commentary:

In the previous verse Agatthiyar talked about the macro scale and how Vishnu’s lifespan ends.  In this verse he talks about the rishi, muni and devas.  These souls belong to the class of vijnanakala while Vishnu described in the previous verse belongs to the category of pralayakala.  The pralayakala’s life ends after pralaya or dissolution.  The vijnanakala are more evolved souls and this verse describes how and when their life ends.

These souls, through yoga, will become aware of the adhara or the substratum of everything.  They will remain in Siva nishtai or contemplation of Siva or the supreme truth.  The will do so while remaining in a particular form in this world as this is the karma bhumi or the locus where a particular action can be performed.  In the end they will reach the state of Param, the ultimate state.  This is called paramukthi.

முந்தைய பாடலில் அகத்தியர் விஷ்ணு எவ்வாறு பிரளயத்தின் முடிவில் லயமடைகிறார் என்று கூறினார்.  இவ்வாறு பிரளயத்தின் முடிவில் லயமடையும் ஆத்மாக்களை பிரளயகலர் என்பர்.  இவர்களைவிட உயர்த்த நிலையில் இருப்பவர்கள் விஞ்ஞானகலர்.  பிரளயகலரின் உச்ச நிலை நாதாந்த நிலை.  விஞ்ஞானகலரின் உச்ச நிலை பர நிலை. ஆனால் நிலையை அவர்கள் உலகில் ஒரு வடிவெடுத்து வந்துதான் அடையமுடியும் ஏனெனில் இவ்வுலகமே கர்ம பூமி, செயல்புரியக்கூடிய இடம்.  இந்த விஞ்ஞானகலர்கள் யோகத்தின் மூலம் சிவ நிஷ்டை செய்து ஆதாரங்களின் உண்மை நிலையை அறிந்து பரநிலையை அடைகின்றனர், பூரணத்துடன் கூடுகின்றனர் என்கிறார் அகத்தியர்.
