166. Taking the body to the tomb

Verse 166

காட்டடா தூபமொடு தீபங்காட்டி

கருணையுடன் ரதமதின்மேற் கடாக்ஷஞ் செய்து

நாட்டடா மணியோசை சங்கினோசை

நலமான ஜெயகண்டி மேளவாத்தியம்

மூட்டடா சகலவொலி நாதத்தோடே

முக்கியமாய் ரதமதனை நடத்திக்கொண்டு

சூட்டடா சமாதினுட வாசற் சென்று

சுகமாகக் கிரகப்பிரவேசம் பண்ணே

Translation:

Wave the lamp and fragrance

Place him on top of a chariot

Sound the bell, conch

The victory disc, drums and other musical instruments

Sound the various sounds

Move the chariot

To the entrance of the tomb

Make it enter the house (tomb).

Commentary:

After performing the appropriate worship rituals the body is placed on a chariot.  Various musical instruments are sounded and the chariot is takne to the entrance of the tomb and the body is placed inside the house.

உடலுக்குச் செய்யவேண்டிய உபசாரங்களைச் செய்த பிறகு அதை ஒரு ரதத்தில் வைத்து பலவித மங்கள வாத்தியங்களை முழங்கியபடி அதை சமாதி கிரகத்துக்கு அழைத்து வரவேண்டும்.  பிறகு அதனை கிரகத்தினுள் வைக்கவேண்டும் என்கிறார் அகத்தியர்.
