169. Final steps in creating the tomb

Verse 169

எண்ணியே ஐந்தெழுத்தை உச்சரித்து

இன்பமுடன் மணல் பரப்பித் திரணை போட்டு

உண்ணியே திரணிநடு லிங்க பீடம்

உத்தமனே தான் வகுத்து உறுதியாகப்

புண்ணியனே சுகந்தமலர் அர்ச்சனைகள் செய்து

புத்தியுடன் சகலரச வர்க்கம் வைத்து

வன்னிஎன்ற ருத்திரனைத் தியானம் பண்ணி

மார்க்கமுடன் மானதாம் பூசை செய்யே

Translation:

Uttering the sacred five letters

Spreading the sand over it, adding a stone plank with cornice

In the middle of the cornice a linga is placed

The Good One!  Placing them firmly

Perform archana with fragrant flowers

Placing all the categories of rasa

Contemplating on Rudra, the fire,

Perform manasa puja

Commentary:

After covering the body up to the top with the various powders listed in the previous verse a cornice or a decorative horizontal platform is placed after covering with sand.  On top of the cornice a linga is installed.  Fragrant flowers are placed and all things that represents all the rasa are placed.  Rudra is contemplated on and mental worship is performed.

உடலைப் பல்வேறு பொடிகளினால் மூடிய பிறகு அதன் மேல் மணல் பரப்பி திரணை எனப்படும் அலங்காரக் கல்லை வைத்து அதன் மேல் லிங்கத்தைப் பிரதிஷ்டை பண்ண வேண்டும்.  பிறகு மலர்கள், பல வித ரசங்களைக் குறிக்கும் பொருட்கள் ஆகியவற்றை வைத்து நெருப்புக்கு அதிபதியான ருத்திரனைத் தியானிக்க வேண்டும்.  இவ்வாறு அந்த சமாதியின் முன் மானச பூசை செய்யவேண்டும் என்கிறார் அகத்தியர்.
