242. Ashta Ganapathy

Verse 242

அஷ்ட கணபதி மூலமந்திரம்

ஆமப்பா அஷ்டதிசைக் கரசாய்நின்ற

அருமையுள்ள புலத்தியனே சொல்லக் கேளு

ஓமப்பா ஆதிகணபதிதானொன்று

உறுதியுள்ள மகாகணபதிதானொன்று

தாம்பா நடனகணபதி தானொன்று

சங்கையுள்ள சத்திகண பதிதானொன்று

நாமப்பா சொல்லுகிறோம் ஒன்றாய்க் கேளு

நன்மையுள்ள வாலகணபதிதானொன்றே

Translation:

Mulamantra of Ashta Ganapathy

Yes, son, remaining as the king of the eight direction

The beloved Pulathiya, listen to me say,

Yes son, one of them is Adhi Ganapathy

The firm Maha Ganapathy is another,

The Nadana Ganapathy is another

The Sakthi Ganapathy is another

I am tellin you listen to them

The beneficial Vaalai Ganapathy is another.

Commentary:

Agatthiyar lists the eight Ganapathys as Adhi Ganapathy, Maha Ganapathy, Nadana Ganapathy, Sakthi Ganapathy, Vaalai Ganapathy and continues the list in the next verse also. 

Note: Adi Ganapathi- or the original Ganapathay is also called nara mukha Ganapathy, one with human face.  Temple for Adhi Ganapathy is found at Thilatarpanapuri (http://templesoftamilnadu.co.in/tag/nara-mukha-vinayagar/).  Siva is said to have replaced the face of this original Ganapathi created by Parvathi with an elephant face.                                   

அஷ்ட கணபதிகளை இப்பாடலில் மீண்டும் பட்டியலிடுகிறார் அகத்தியர்.  அவர்கள் ஆதி கணபதி, மகா கணபதி, நடன கணபதி, சக்தி கணபதி, வாலை கணபதி என்று இந்தப் பட்டியலை அடுத்த பாடலிலும் தொடருகிறார் அவர். 

குறிப்பு:  ஆதி கணபதி என்பவர் நரமுக கணபதி என்று அழைக்கப்படுகிறார்.  அவரது கோயில் திலதர்பணபுரி என்ற உள்ளது.  மேலே கொடுக்கப்பட்ட லிங்கில் விவரங்களைப் பெறவும்.
