பேதனம்

ஆச்சப்பா மாரண த்தைச் சொன்னேன் மைந்தா

அருள்பெருகும் பேதனத்தை அருளக் கேளு

காச்சப்பா வடமேற்கு முகமாய்க் கொண்டு

கருணையுடன் விபூதியை உத்தளமாய்ப்பூசி

மூச்சப்பா தானிருத்திக் குருவைப் போற்றி

முத்திபெற கிருஷ்ணா சனமேற்கொண்டு

பாச்சப்பா மூலகண பதியின் சூக்ஷம்

பத்தியுடன் ஓம் ரீம்அம் மென்றெண்ணே

Translation:

Bedhanam

Son, I told you about maaranam

Now hear me utter bedhanam

Facing the northwest direction

Adorn the sacred ash

Stopping the breath, praising the guru

To attain mukthi, sit over deer skin (krishnaajeenam)

Direct the subtlety of Mula Ganapathy

With devotion contemplate om reem am.

Commentary:

After describing maaranam Agatthiyar begins to describe bedhanam.  Agatthiyar tells Pulathiyar that the yogin should sit facing north west over a deer skin.  He should adorn sacred ash, hold his breath in kumbakam.  He should contemplate on Mula Ganapathy and om reem am.

மாரணத்தை விளக்கிய பிறகு அகத்தியர் பேதனத்தை விளக்கப் புகுகிறார்.  அதற்கு ஒரு யோகி வடமேற்கு திசையை நோக்கி மான்தோல் மீது அமர்ந்து மூச்சை கும்பகத்தில் நிறுத்தவேண்டும்.  மூல கணபதியை மனத்தில் எண்ணி ஓம் ரீம் அம் என்று தியானிக்கவேண்டும் என்கிறார் அகத்தியர்.
