237. Effect of maaranam

Verse 237

ஓதியொரு நாழிகையில் மைந்தா கேளு

உதிரமதில் அக்கினிதான் உடனே பாஞ்சு

வீதிஎன்ற தெருத்தோறும் அலைவான் மட்டை

விஞ்சை என்ற மாரணத்தை நெஞ்சில் வைத்து

நீதியுடன் விபூதியை நீ கடாட்சித்தாக்கால்

நேர்மையுடன் சகலபிணி மாண்டு போகுஞ்

சோதிஎன்ற உக்கிர கணபதியின் சூக்ஷஞ்

சுத்தமுடன் மாரணத்து குயிருமாச்சே

Translation:

Son, if you recite it for one naazhigai

The fire will flow in his blood

And he will roam around the roads (going crazy)

Intending maaranam

If you offer sacred ash

All the diseases will die, truthfully.

The effulgence, the Ugra Ganapathy

Is purely the soul of maaranam.

Commentary:

A particular action can be used for both good and bad effects.  The bad effects are called abhichaaram.  Maaranam can be used to kill one’s enemy as well as all the diseases.  The yogin who has attained this siddhi can give sacred ash to people and their diseases will be cured.

Agatthiyar says that Ugra Ganapathy is the soul for this siddhi.

ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட செயலை நல்ல விஷயத்துக்கும் பயன்படுத்தலாம் கெட்ட விளைவை நிகழ்த்தவும் பயன்படுத்தலாம்.  தீய செயல்களுக்காக செய்யப்படுபவை அபிசாரம் எனப்படும்.  ஒருவரது எதிரியைக் கொல்ல மாரணத்தைப் பயன்படுத்தினால் அவரது ரத்தத்தில் அக்னி பாய்ந்து அவர் தெருவில் அதன் தீவிரம் தாளாமல் அலைவார் என்கிறார் அகத்தியர்.  இதை நல்ல விதத்துக்குப் பயன்படுத்த நினைத்தால் ஒரு யோகி மாரணத்தை மனத்தில் கொண்டு விபூதியை அளித்தால் சகல பிணிகளும் விலகி ஓடும் என்றும் அவர் கூறுகிறார்.  இந்த சித்திக்கு உயிர் உக்ர கணபதி என்றும் அவர் சோதியானவர் என்றும் கூறி இப்பாடலை முடிக்கிறார் அகத்தியர்.
