240. Bedhanam- to cure fever and swelling

Verse 240

பாரப்பா புலத்தியனே சொல்லக்கேளு

பத்தியுடன் பேதனத்தைத் தியானம் பண்ணி

நேரப்பா நின்றபிணி யாளர் கையில்

நிஷயமாய் விபூதியை நீகட்டினாக்கால்

சாரப்பா சுரதோஷ வீக்கமெல்லாம்

க்ஷணத்திலே பேதலிக்கும் விருது போடு

தேரப்பா மூலகண பதியினாலே

தீர்க்கமுடன் பேதனந்தான் செம்மையாமே

Translation:

See Pulatthiya!, let me tell you

Contemplating bedhanam with devotion

In the hands of the sick

If you tie the sacred ash

Fever, swelling and other dosha

Will transform, honor it

Due to Mula Ganapathy

Bedhanam will be beneficial.

Commentary:

Agatthiyar says that bedhanam will remove fever, swelling and other dosha.  To achieve this the yogin should contemplate on the mantra and follow the rituals and tie the sacred ash on the hands of the sick.  The bedhanam here is change of fever to no fever, swelling to no swelling. 

பேதனத்தால் சுரம் வீக்கம் மற்ற தோஷங்கள் ஆகியவற்றை நீக்கலாம் என்கிறார் அகத்தியர்.  இதற்கு ஒரு யோகி பேதனத்துக்கான மந்திரத்தை உச்சரித்து விபூதியை பிணியாளரின் கையில் கட்ட வேண்டும்.  அப்போது மூல கணபதியின் அருளால் சுரம் சுரமின்மையாகவும் வீக்கம் வீக்கமின்மையாகவும் பேதலிக்கும் என்கிறார் அகத்தியர்.
