Verse 17

கருவான சௌமிய சாகரத்தை மைந்தா

கருணையுடன் விளம்புகிறேன் கருவைக் கேளு

திருவான ஆதார மூலசூக்ஷஞ்

செப்பரிது தத்துவத்தின் வழியின் நேர்மை

உருவான தீக்ஷையொடு பூசை மார்க்கம்

உத்தமனே அஷ்ட கன்மஞ் சித்து மூலம்

குருவான கற்பமொடு மந்திரசித்து

கூர்மையென்ன யோகமொடு ஞானந்தானே

Translation:

Son, the essence, the Saumya Saagaram

I will tell you with mercy, listen to the essence

The sacred adhaara mula subtlety

The difficult to explain principle’s path is straight

Along with deeksha, pooja

The good one! The ashta karma, sitthu, the origin

Along with the guru, the karpam, mantra and sitthu

The sharp yoga and jnana along with it.

Commentary:

Agatthiyar is starting to describe the essence of Saumya sagaram.  He will describe the esoteric adhaara moolam or the supporting origin or muladhara and the principles or tattva will go in its path, that of sushumna, is straight and honest.  He will describe the deeksha marga, the pooja, the ashta karma, karpam, mantra, mystical accomplishments or sitthu, yoga and jnana.

அகத்தியர் இப்பாடலிலிருந்து சௌமிய சாகரத்தில் உள்ள விஷயங்களைக் கூறத் தொடங்குகிறார்.  அவர் இந்த நூலில் ஆதாரமூலமான மூலாதாரத்தைப் பற்றியும் அதன் வழியான சுழுமுனையில் செல்லும் தத்துவங்களைப் பற்றியும் தீக்ஷை, பூஜை, அஷ்ட கர்மம், சித்து கற்பம் மந்திரம், யோகம் மற்றும் ஞானத்தைப் பற்றியும் கூறப்போகிறார்.
