Verse 441

நவகும்ப பூசை

பார்முழுதும் ஒருகுடைக்கீழ் பதிவாயான

பகர்ந்த சொல்லை மறவாதே ஞானம் பாரு

சீர்பெறவே பூசை செய்ய கும்பம் எட்டும்

தீர்க்கமுள்ள கும்பமடா ஓம் பிரதானம்

நேர்பெறவே கும்ப நடுக் கும்பம் வைத்து

நேர்மையுடன் நவக்கிரகந் தனக்கு மைந்தா

பேர்பெறவே கரகமதிற் கடியில் மைந்தா

பிலமான அட்சதையும் படிதானொன்றே

Translation:

Puja of nine kumbha

The word that has the world under its umbrella

Do not forget the word,  see the jnana.

For the puja- eight pots (kumbha)

The biggest one is Om, the main one.

Placing the kumbha and central one

For the navagraha, Son,

Under the pot, son

Place sacred rice, one measure (padi- approx..750 gm)

Commentary:

Agatthiyar describing a ritual where nine pots are placed for invoking the nine planets or houses.  Graha means planets as well as loci.  This interpration is given as Agatthiyar says that the most important kumba is the one in the middle which is the omkara (om pradhaanam).  So the nine graha are the nine chakra or the nine planets.  In fact, the nine planets correspond to nine cakra in the body and thus worship of navagraha is actually a worship of the chakra. 

Agatthiyar says that the pots are placed and below them approximately 750 gm of rice is spread.

Nava graha may also mean the nine aavarana or nine enclosures that surround the bindhu or the dot in the middle of the Sri Cakra.

ஒன்பது கும்பங்களை வைத்துச் செய்யும் பூசையை இங்கே குறிப்பிடுகிறார் அகத்தியர்.  இந்த பூசை நவகிரகங்களுக்கு என்று கூறும் அவர் ஓம்தான் பிரதானம் என்கிறார். இதனால் நவகிரகங்கள் என்றது ஒன்பது சக்கரங்களைக் குறிப்பதாகவும் கொள்ளலாம்.  இவ்வாறு நவக்கிரக பூசை என்பது ஒன்பது சக்கரங்களின் வழிபாடாகிறது.

நவ கிரகங்கள் என்பதற்கு ஒன்பது இல்லங்கள் என்று பொருள் கொண்டால் அது ஒன்பது ஆவரணங்கள் அல்லது சுற்றுக்களைக் குறிக்கிறது.  இந்த ஒம்பது சுற்றுக்கள் ஸ்ரீ சக்கரத்தின் மத்தியில் உள்ள பிந்துவைச் சூழ்ந்துள்ளன.

இவ்வாறு ஒன்பது கும்பங்களை வைத்து அவற்றின் கீழ் ஒரு படி அரிசியைப் பரப்பவேண்டும் என்கிறார் அகத்தியர்.
