320. Arul Perumjyothi- Grace, the great effulgence

Verse 320

இருளான இருளினிட ஒளியைப் பார்க்க

என்ன சொல்வேன் அதனுடைய இன்பந்தன்னை

மருளான மனம் நிறுத்தி மனக்கண் கொண்டு

மாசற்ற இருளொளியை மகிழ்ந்தார் தானும்

அருளான பொருளிலே தானேதானாய்

அமர்ந்து வெளி தனையறிந்து ஒளியைப் பற்றி

வெகுளாமல் இரு அருளில் தானேதானாய்

விளங்கும் அருள் பொருளெனவே மேவிப்பாரே

Translation:

To see the light of the supreme darkness

How will I describe the bliss

Stopping the manas, the delusion, with mental eye

They enjoyed the faultless light of the darkness

As Self, the grace (arul)

Remaining in it, knowing about space, holding to the light

With any hurry/anger, in the two/ darkness grace, as Self

See the entity, grace.  Experience it by embracing it.

Commentary:

The darkness described in the previous verse as the supreme state is the indescribable grace, bliss.  Agatthiyar explains it saying stopping the manas which causes delusion, using the mental eye or mental perception the effulgence of the darkness is seen as grace or arul.  This grace is indescribable.  Vallalar describes it at arul perumjyothi- grace the great effulgence, thani perum karunai- the unique great mercy.

 

முந்தைய பாடலில் கூறிய இருள் என்பது உண்மையில் அருள்தான், ஆனந்தம்தான் என்று இப்பாடலில் அகத்தியர் கூறுகிறார்.  இதை ஒரு யோகி தனது மருளான மனத்தை நிறுத்தி, மனக்கண் கொண்டு இருளின் ஒளியாக அருள் பொருளாகப் பார்த்து அனுபவிக்கிறார். இந்த அருள் விளக்க முடியாதது.  இதைத்தான் வள்ளலார் அருள் பெரும்சோதி, தனிப் பெரும்கருணை என்கிறார்.
