227. Benefit of ucchaadanam

Verse 227

எண்ணியே ஆயிரத்தெண் ணுருவே செய்தால்

ஏகாந்த சத்திகண பதியினாலே

உன்னியே சாடனந்தான்மைந்தா மைந்தா

உறுதியுடன் சத்தியமா யாடும்பாரு

நண்ணியே சாடனமுஞ் சித்தியானால்

நாதாந்த புலத்தியனே சொல்லக் கேளு

நிண்ணிமையாய்க் கண்ட தெல்லா முச்சாடிக்கும்

நோக்குமனக் கண்ணதினாற் றன்னைபாரே

Translation:

If it is recited thousand and eight times

Due to Ekantha Sakthi Ganapathy

Son, son, the ucchaadanam (uttering)

Will dance firmly, see it.

If ucchaadana siddhi is attained

Nadhantha Pulaitthiya!  Listen to me say it

All that is perceived as hostile will be driven away.

See it with mind’s eye, see it.

Commentary:

The mantra mentioned in the previous verse, om, kili sau should be uttered 1008 times.  Agatthiyar says that due to Ekantha Sakthi Ganapathy’s grace all that which are hostile, unfriendly will be driven away.  As opposed to aakarshanam and vaseekaranam ucchaadanam is to drive away the evil.  While sthambanam arrests hostile forces this karma drives them away.  Agatthiyar calls Pulatthiyar as nadhantha Pulathiya, one who has reached the nadhantha state.  This makes us wonder if he is really describing these concepts to Pulatthiyar or to us,, souls that are struggling to evolve.

முந்தைய பாடலில் கூறிய மந்திரமான ஓம் கிலி சவ் என்பதை ஆயிரத்தெட்டு முறை உச்சரிக்க வேண்டும் என்கிறார் அகத்தியர்.  அவ்வாறு செய்தால் ஏகாந்த சக்தி கணபதியின் அருளால் தனக்கு எதிராக இருக்கும் சக்திகள் எல்லாம் விரட்டியடிக்கப்படும் என்று அவர் கூறுகிறார்.  இதை மனக்கண்ணால் பார்க்கும்படி அவர் புலத்தியருக்குக் கூறுகிறார்.  நாதாந்தப் புலத்தியர் என்று அவரை அழைப்பதன் மூலம் இப்பாடல் அவரை விட நமக்காகத்தானோ என்று தோன்றுகிறது.
