48. Summary of the principles

Verse 48

காணப்பா ஆதராந் தன்னிலேதான்

கருவான உட்கருவி முப்பத்தாறும்

பூணப்பா புறக்கருவி அறுபதாச்சு

புத்தியுடன் உள் வெளியும் நன்றாய்ப் பார்த்தால்

தோணப்பா தத்துவங்கள் தொண்ணூற்றாறுந்

தோணுமடா இருதயத்தில் சூழ்ந்து பார்க்கில்

வீணப்பா ஒன்றுமில்லை தத்துவமாங் குப்பை

விளங்குபதி பசுபாசம் விளையாட்டாச்சே

Translation:

See son, among the basis

The inner instruments are thirty six

The external instruments are sixty

If you the inner and outer (instruments) with buddhi

The total tatthva of ninety six

Will occur in the heart.  If you see them carefully

There is nothing, everything is a waste, the rubbish called tattva.

The play of pasu, pati and pasu, the game will become clear.

Commentary:

In this verse, Agatthiyar sums up the principles he has explained so far. The total number of principles are 96.  Among these 36 are called the inner principles and the 60 are external principles or instruments.  Agatthiyar calls them all as rubbish, as waste.  All they are fit for is to cause the play- pasu, pati and pasa that cause all the distinctions and the world as we know it. 

இதுவரை பட்டியலிட்ட தத்துவங்களை அகத்தியர் இப்பாடலில் தொகுக்குகிறார்.  தத்துவங்கள் மொத்தம் 96. அவற்றுள் 36  உட்கருவிகள் 60 வெளிக்கருவிகள். அகத்தியர் அவையனைத்தையும் குப்பை, தண்டம் என்கிறார்.  அவை பசு, பதி, பாசம் என்ற விளையாட்டை நிகழ்த்துவதற்குத்தான் சரி என்கிறார் அகத்தியர்.
