33. Atma tattva

Verse 33

பாரப்பா ஆத்தும தத்துவம் தானப்பா

பதிவாக இருபத்து நாலும் சொன்னேன்

நேரப்பா தானிருந்து ஆத்துமாவாம்

நிலையறிந்து பெற்றதினால் வாசியாகும்

காரப்பா வாசிநிலை கருவைக் கண்டு

கருவாக ஆத்துமத தத்துவத்தைப் பார்த்தால்

ஆரப்பா உனக்கு நிகர் உண்டோ பிள்ளாய்

அப்பனே வித்தியா தத்துவம் கேளே

Translation:

See son, the atma tattva (principles of soul)

I told you the twenty four

Remaining with the knowledge

About the soul, it will become vaasi

Focus son, seeing the status, the essence of vaasi

And the essence of the atma tattva,

Who is equal to you? Son,

Listen about the vidya tattva.

Commentary:

Agatthiyar explained the atma tattva or principles that control the soul.  They are 5 jnanendriya, 5 karmendriya, 5 elements, 5 subtle qualities and four modifications of mind- a total of 24.

When one learns their essence and the status of vaasi one will become a superior soul with none equal to him.  Agatthiyar will next explain the vidya tattva or the principles that confer knowledge.

இதுவரை அகத்தியர் ஆத்ம தத்துவங்கள் எனப்படும் 24 தத்துவங்களை விளக்கினார்.  அவை 5 ஞானேந்திரியங்கள், 5 கர்மேந்திரியங்கள், 5 பூதங்கள், 5 தன்மாத்திரைகள், 4 மனத்தின் மாறுபாடுகள் என்பவை.  இந்த ஆத்ம தத்துவத்தின் கருவையும் வாசியின் நிலையையும் ஒருவர் அறிந்தால் அவருக்கு ஈடானவர் இவ்வுலகில் இல்லை என்கிறார் அகத்தியர்.
