16. One can get gold and siva yogam from Saumya saagaram

Verse 16

ஆச்சப்பா மேருகிரி தீபம் போலே

அரகரா சௌமிய சாகரந்தான் பாரு

நீச்சப்பா கடினமென்று நீ மலைக்க வேண்டாம்

நேர்மையுள்ள கைபாகம் முறை பாகங்கள்

பாச்சப்பா வெகுதெளிவு இந்நூல் போலே

பகராது முன் சொன்ன சாஸ்திரங்கள்

காச்சப்பா இந்நூலைப் பதனம் பண்ணி

கனகமுடன் சிவயோகங் கருத்தாய்ப் பாரே

Translation:

Like a lamp on the the Merugiri

Araharaa, See the saumya saagaram,

You need not fatigue thinking it is too difficult,

The truthful amounts and procedure (how to do something)

Are very clear in this book

The sastras uttered before will not say it clearly like this

Condense this book after processing it,

You will see gold and sivayogam.

Commentary:

Agathiyar assures the reader that he should not panic or give up thinking that the procedures and the philosophy mentioned in the Saumya sagaram are too difficult.  He tells that this book explains “kai bhaagam murai bhaagam”  well.  These terms are generally used in Siddha medicinal preparations.  It also means the procedure for any process.  Agatthiyar tells that none of the sastras composed before will explain these so clearly and hence one should understand this book and contemplate upon it like preparing the medicine by processing it (padhanam pannu) and concentrating it by boiling.  He concludes this verse with a mystical line saying one can get gold and siva yogam if one follows the procedure described in this book.

Tamil Siddha alchemy serves two purposes, one to turn base metal into gold and the other to turn the human body from its material state to that of supreme golden state, to turn the limited soul into all pervasive supreme existence.  The last line indicates this idea. Hence, the verses that come later describing alchemy will be looked at only from the philosophical angle as the purpose of this commentary is to transform material body into divya deha and not creating gold.

இந்த நூலின் பெருமையைக் கண்டு ஒருவரும் அதைக் கற்பது, செயல்படுத்துவது கடினம் என்று விட்டுவிடவேண்டாம் என்கிறார் அகத்தியர். இந்த நூலில் கைபாகம் முறைபாகம் ஆகியவற்றை நன்றாக விளக்கியுள்ளேன் என்றும் அவர் கூறுகிறார்.  கைபாகம் முறைபாகம் என்ற சொற்கள் பொதுவாக சித்த மருத்துவத்தில் ரசவாதத்தில் பயன்படுத்தப்படுகின்றன.  இது, பொருட்களின் அளவையும் அவற்றை எவ்வாறு மருந்தாக மாற்றுவது என்ற செயல் முறையையும் குறிக்கின்றன.  அதனால் பிற சாத்திரங்களைப் போல இல்லாது சௌமிய சாகரத்தில் அளவுகளும் முறைகளும் நன்றாக விளக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன அதனால் ஒருவர் பயப்படவேண்டாம் என்று இதற்குப் பொருள்.  இந்த நூலை சித்த தயாரிப்பைப் போல நன்றாகப் பதனப்படுத்தி காய்ச்ச வேண்டும் என்கிறார் அகத்தியர்.  அவ்வாறு செய்தால் ஒருவர் கனகத்தையும் சிவயோகத்தையும் பெறலாம் என்று ஒரு வாக்கியத்துடன் அவர் இந்தப்பாடலை முடிக்கிறார்.

சித்தர்களின் ரசவாதம் கீழான உலோகங்களைத் தங்கமாக மாற்றுவது மற்றும் கீழான பருப்பொருளாலான உடலை தங்கமேனியாக மாற்றுவது, அளவுக்குட்பட்ட உடலை எங்கும் பரவி நிற்கும் இருப்பாய் மாற்றுவது என்ற இரண்டு குறிக்கோள்களையும் கொண்டது.  அதனால்தான் அகத்தியர் இந்த நூலினால் ஒருவர் தங்கத்தையும் சிவயோகத்தையும் பெறலாம் என்கிறார்.  இனி வரும் பாடல்களில் உள்ள ரசவாத முறைகளை நாம் தத்துவ நோக்கிலிருந்து பார்க்கலாம்.  இந்த விளக்கவுரையின் குறிக்கோள் தூல சரீரத்தை திவ்ய சரீரமாக மாற்றுவது எவ்வாறு என்று அறிவது தான்.
