277. Siva Mathi

Verse 277

எண்ணியதோர் மாயாதி வந்தாலுந்தான்

என்மகனே அனிசகத்தி லிருந்துகொண்டு

துண்ணியந்த சித்தாந்த நிலையில் நின்றால்

துலங்கிநின்ற வகையென்று சொல்லலாகும்

உண்ணியந்த கோளைவிட்டு தெளிவுவந்தால்

உத்தமனே மதிஎன்பார் உண்மையாக

குண்ணியந்த வேதாந்த நிலையில் நின்று

குருவான பூரணத்தைக் குவிந்து நோக்கே

Translation:

Even if the maya and other come

My son! While remaining in this world

If remained in the state of Siddhantha

It will be considered as remaining in the right state.

If the world is left and clarity occurs

The supreme one!  They say it is “mathi” (knowledge)

Remaining in the Vedanta state truthfully

Look at the guru, the Poornam with focus.

Commentary:

Agatthiyar is talking about sivamathi or right attitutde.  He says that even if maya and other delusions occur is a person continues to remain in the world in the state of Siddhantha, it will considered as remaining in the pure way.  If this clarity occurs it is said to be mathi or knowledge/wisdom.  Agatthiyar tells Pulatthiyar to remain in this state of Vedanta, truthfully, and look at the poornam or the Divine with mental focus.

சிவமதி என்ற நியமத்தை இப்பாடலில் விளக்குகிறார் அகத்தியர். மேற்கூறிய மனத்தெளிவு பெற்ற ஒருவர் மாயை முதலிய மயக்கங்கள் ஏற்பட்டாலும் அதனால் கலங்காது சித்தாந்த நிலையில் நிற்கவேண்டும், அவ்வாறு நின்றால் அதுதான் துலங்கிய வழி என்கிறார் அகத்தியர்.  இவ்வாறு இந்த உலகப் பற்றைவிட்டு மனத்தெளிவுடன் இருந்தால் அதுதான் மதி என்றும் அவர் கூறுகிறார்.  இவ்வாறு உண்மையான வேதாந்த நிலையில் நின்று குருவை மனக்குவிப்புடன் நோக்கு என்று அவர் புலத்தியரிடம் கூறுகிறார் அகத்தியர்.
