121. Order of emergence

Verse 121

கேளப்பா பராபரமாய் நின்ற சோதிக்

கிருபையுடன் சிவன் படைக்க நினைந்தபோது

மாளப்பா வல்ல பரந்தன்னிலேதான்

வளவான சிவமதுதான் உண்டாச்சப்பா

மேலப்பா சிவமதிலே சத்தியுண்டாய்

விளங்கி நின்ற சத்தியிலே மைந்தாகேளு

சூளப்பா சதாசிவந்தான் துலங்கிநின்ற

சொற்பெரிய சதாசிவத்தின் மயேசுரந்தானே

Translation:

Listen son, the effulgence that remained as Paraparam

When it decided, with mercy, to create Siva

In the capable Param

Occurred Sivam. 

In the superior Sivam Sakthi occure

In the Sakthi, listen son,

The Sadasivam occurred

In the indescribable Sadasivam the Maheswaram.

Commentary:

Agatthiyar describes the order of creation in this verse which is similar to that seen in Tirumular’s Tirumandiram.  The original state, space, effulgence decides to create Sivan.  At that point Sivam or consciousness occurred and from Sivam the order of emergence, Sakthi, Sadasivam and Maheswaram occurred.   These states represent various principles.  We will see further details about these states in the next verse.

ஏகமாக வெளியாக ஒளியாக இருந்த பராபரம் சிவனைப் படைக்க நினைத்தபோது முதலில் பரத்தில் சிவம் அல்லது பரவுணர்வு தோன்றியது.  அதிலிருந்து சக்தி, சதாசிவம், மகேஸ்வரம் என்று நிலைகள் ஒவ்வொன்றாகத் தோன்றத் தொடங்கின.  இந்த நிலைகள் பல்வேறு தத்துவங்களைக் குறிக்கின்றன.  இவற்றைப் பற்றிய விவரங்களை அடுத்த பாடலில் காண்போம்.
