Verse 118

உலகம் படைத்த வரலாறு

பாரப்பா அடிமுடியுந் தேடிப்போன

பதிவான மாலயனுங் காணாரென்று

நேரப்பா வேதமுரைத் திட்ட செய்தி

நீள்புவியில் யாவர்களும் உரைத்திட்ட செய்தி

யாரப்பா அறிவார்கள் பரசொரூபம்

அந்தரங்கமான சிவ ரூபாரூபம்

காரப்பா குருவருளால் தெரிந்த மட்டுங்

கருணையுடன் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்று தானே

Translation:

The history of how the world was created

See son, Brahma and Vishnu

Who sent seeking the head and foot, did not see it

The news that Veda said

The message that was conveyed to everyone in this world

Who would know the Parasvaroopa

The esoteric subtle siva roopa arupa (formless form)

With the grace of guru, as much as I know

I will tell you with mercy.

Commentary:

The scriptures tell the whole world the history of creation of the world.  It says that Siva stood as a column of fire.  Brahma and Vishnu sought his head and feet unsuccessfully.  Agatthiyar says that while this is superficial information the actual history is something subtle, esoteric and that through the guru’s grace he will tell Pulatthiyar the actual story.

புராணங்கள் உலகம் தோன்றிய வரலாறை மேற்கூறிய லிங்கோத்பவ கதையாக உலகமக்களுக்குக் கூறுகின்றன என்றும் உண்மையில் அது மிக சூட்சுமமானது, அந்தரங்கமானது என்றும் கூறும் அகத்தியர் அதைக் குருவருளால் தனக்குத் தெரிந்த மட்டும் கூறுவதாகப் புலத்தியரிடம் சொல்கிறார்.
