Verse 540

நாகரச மெழுகு

இருப்பார்கள் சூட்சாதி சூட்சமாக

ஏறுதற்கு வழியொன்று சொல்லக் கேளு

வெறுப்பாக மனமலைந்து போகாவண்ணம்

வேதாந்த நாகரச மெழுகு சொல்வேன்

கருப்பான நாகரசம் ஒன்றாய்க் கொண்டு

கருணையுடன் அந்திடைக்கி நாலத்தொன்று

குறிப்பான வீரமுடன் கெவுரி லிங்கம்

குருவான அரிதாரம் அயக்காந்தம் பாரே

Translation:

They will remain as subtle of the subtle

Listen to a method for ascending

Without the mind getting dejected and waver

I will tell about the “naagarasa wax”

Taking the black naaga rasa

Containing it in one of four

Adding veeram, gevuri lingam

The guru- aridhaaram, ayakkaandham.

Commentary:

In the previous verse Agatthiyar told us about how to raise the consciousness to the highest state.  However, this is not a permanent state.  The yogin either feels depressed as he is not able to remain in this state permanently or his mind wavers and he is not able to hold it in the expected state.  In this verse Agatthiyar tells us a method to hold the mind and prevent it from getting dejected.  He says that it is through “naagarasa mezhugu” or wax of the essence of snake.  Philosophically the essence of snake corresponds ot the essence of kundalini. He lists a variety of things that should be added together to obtain this wax.  We have seen before the philosophical equivalents of these products.  It is not being described here to avoid repetition.

உச்ச உணர்வு நிலையைப் பற்றி அகத்தியர் முற்பாடல்களில் கூறினார்.  ஆனால் இந்த நிலை நிரந்தரமானது அல்ல.  அந்த நிலையில் இருக்கும் ஒரு யோகி வெறுப்படையலாம், அவரது மனது அலை பாயலாம்.  இவ்வாறு நிகழ்வதைத் தடுப்பதற்கு அவர் நாகரச மெழுகு தயாரிப்பைக் கூறுகிறார். தத்துவரீதியாக நாகரசம் என்பது குண்டலினியின் சாரம்.  அதைப் பெறுவதற்குப் பல பொருள்களைச் சேர்க்க வேண்டும் என்று கூறுகிறார் அவர்.  இந்தப் பொருள்கள்தத்துவரீதியாக எவற்றைக் குறிக்கின்றன என்று முன்னமே பார்த்தோம்.  விரிவு கருதி அவற்றை இங்கே விளக்கவில்லை.
