113. Lord's reply to Agatthiyar

Verse 113

வணங்கிமிக நிற்கையிலே வேதியோனும்

மகத்தான ரகஸ்யமடா ஞான மார்க்கம்

இணங்கியதோர் அந்தரங்க மான சூக்ஷம்

ஏகாந்த சூக்ஷமென்ற கதையைக் கேளு

குணங்குவிய ஆதியந்தக் குறியை நன்றாய்க்

கூர்மையுடன் சொல்லுகிறோங் குணமாய்க் கேளே

(இரண்டு வரிகள் இல்லை)

Translation:

While standing there saluting him, the vedhiyon (the embodiment of knowledge)

The jnana marga (path of wisdom) is very esoteric

The personal and favorable subtlety

Listen to the story of the singular letter, the subtlety

The sign of the origin and terminus with its qualities in focus

I will tell, listen carefully.

Commentary:

When Agatthiyar stood saluting the Lord, the Divine told him that the jnana marga or path of wisdom is very esoteric, very personal and very subtle.  The lord proceeded to tell him about the singular letter- omkara and the sign of aadhi antham or origin terminus. Two lines are missing in this verse.

மேற்பாடலில் கூறியபடி அகத்தியர் இறைவனை வணங்கி நின்றபோது வேதியன் அல்லது வேதம் எனப்படும் ஞானத்தின் அதிபதியான இறைவன் அவருக்கு ஞான மார்க்கத்தின் தன்மை மிக ரகசியமானது, அந்தரங்கமானது, சூட்சுமமானது என்று கூறினார்.  அதனை அடுத்து அவர், “ஏகாட்சரம் எனப்படும் ஓம்காரத்தைப் பற்றிக் கூறுகிறேன் கவனமாகக் கேள்,” என்றார்.
