516. Darkness

Verse 516

பாரப்பா புகுந்தயிடம் பத்திக்கொண்டு

பதிவாக வந்தயிடம் வெளிதான் மைந்தா

நேரப்பா வெளியொளிதான் எங்கேஎன்றால்

நிசமான ஆகாசம் இருளாய்ப் போச்சு

சேரப்பா செனித்ததுவும் இருளிலாச்சு

செத்திறந்து போனதுவும் இருளிலாச்சு

காரப்பா கண்டதெல்லாம் இருள்தானாச்சு

கணங்கண்ட காரியங்கள் கனவாய்ப் போச்சே

Translation:

See son, holding the place entered with devotion

The place arrived is the space.

If questioned, “Where is the space light?”

The truth, the akasha became darkness

It was in the darkness that birth occurred

The death and dissolution occurred in darkness

See son, all that was seen became verily darkness

The actions of the principles/types became a dream.

Commentary:

Agatthiyar describes the darkness here.  He says that everything is born in the darkness.  Everything dissolves in darkness too.  Even the space light, the akasha is the darkness.  When the soul reaches this darkness all the actions stop, they become a dream and not a reality.

Science talks about dark matter and dark energy.  The darkness that Agatthiyar describes seems to be similar to these concepts.

இப்பாடலில் இருளை விளக்குகிறார் அகத்தியர்.  பிறப்பும் இறப்பும் இந்த இருளில்தான் நடைபெறுகின்றன.  ஒளியும் வெளியும் பிறப்பதுவும் இறப்பதுவும் இதனுள்தான்.  இந்த இருளை ஒருவர் அடையும்போது எல்லா செயல்களும் கனவாகிவிடும்.  இதுவே ஆதிநிலை.

அறிவியல் இருண்ட சக்தி, இருண்ட வஸ்து என்று உலகின் செயல்பாட்டை விளக்கும்போது இரு தத்துவங்களைக் குறிப்பிடுகிறது.  அகத்தியர் கூறும் இருள் இவற்றைப் போல உள்ளது.
