512. Nature of the jyothi seen

Verse 512

நாட்டமென்ற நயனமடா மைந்தாகேளு

நன்மையுள்ள இடதுகலை சந்திரனாச்சு

தேட்ட மென்ற வலதுகலை சூரியனாச்சு

சிவசிவா நடுமய்யஞ் சுழினையாச்சு

வாட்டமென்ற இவையெல்லாம் ஒன்றாய்ச்சேர்ந்து

வண்மையுடன் ஒன்றாகி நின்றுகொண்டு

கூட்டமென்ற அக்கினிதான் சோதியாச்சு

குருவருளால் முச்சுடரை கண்டு தேறே

Translation:

The attention, the eye, hear about it son,

The beneficial idakalai is Chandra

The seeking right kala is surya

Siva siva the central one is sushumna

Joining all these together

Making them one and remaining in that state

The agni became Jyothi

Commentary:

Agatthiyar explains the three kalas here.  The ida kala is called Chandra kala.  The pingala or the right kala is the surya kala.  The middle, sushumna is the agni kala.  Agatthiyar says that these three kala are harmonized.  Then the agni kala will become the flame perceived at ajna.  Thus the three flames as surya, Chandra and agni.  These are perceived at the ajna.

சந்திர கலை, சூரிய கலை, அக்னி கலை என்ற மூன்று கலைகளை இப்பாடலில் விளக்குகிறார் அகத்தியர்.  இடகலை என்பது சந்திரன், வலது கலை அல்லது பிங்கலை என்பது சூரியன்.  நடுவில் ஓடும் சுழுமுனை என்பது அக்னி கலை.  இந்த மூன்று கலைகளையும் ஒன்றாக்கினால் அக்னிகலை ஜோதியாகிறதுஅதையே ஒரு யோகி ஆக்னையில் பார்க்கிறார்.  இதற்கு ஒருவர் குருவின் வார்த்தைகளை மறக்காமல் இவ்வழியில் முன்னேறவேண்டும் என்றும் அகத்தியர் கூறுகிறார்.
