508. Four jaamam

Verse 508

சேர்த்து மிகத்தான் பொடித்து குப்பிக்கேற்றி

தீர்க்கமுடன் மண் சீலை மூன்றுஞ் செய்து

பார்த்திபனே குப்பி மூக்களவு மட்டும்

பதிவாக மண்விட்டு அடுப்பில் வைத்து

காத்து நீ எடுத்து அதை கனமாய் வைத்தால்

கண்மணியே வீர வைப்பு என்ன சொல்வேன்

நாத்துமிகப் போகாமல் நாலு சாமம்

நன்றாகத் தீ மூட்டி எரித்துப் பாரே

Translation:

Powdering them, raising them to the crucible

Performing the clay seal three times

The supreme one! filling upto the crucible’s nose

Add the sand and place it on the stove

Protecting it, if you take it

The beloved one!  I will tell you veera vaippu

For four time measures so that it does not lose its heat

Light the fire well, burn it and see.

Commentary:

Add the list of things that Agatthiyar listed in the previous verse he says that it should be covered with clay (man seelai) three measures (these are counts in pudam or slow heat processing) the mixture is burnt for four time counts.   The term “naalu jaamam” is a count for prayanayama. 

மூலநாடி தன்னிலே முளைத்தெழுந்த சோதியை

நாலுநாழி உம்முளே நாடியே இருந்தபின்

பாலனாகி வாழலாம் பரப்பிரமம் ஆகலாம்

ஆலம் உண்ட கண்டன்ஆணை அம்மைஆணை உண்மையே

If the effulgence that emerged in the main nadi is sought for four time measures, one will become a youth one can become Parabrahmam.

முற்பாடலில் கூறிய பொருட்களை மூன்று மண் சீலை செய்தி நான்கு ஜாமம் எரித்துப் பார்க்கவேண்டும் என்று கூறுகிறார் அகத்தியர்.  நாலு ஜாமம் என்பது பிராணாயாம கால அளவு ஆகும். இதை சிவவாக்கியர் பாடல் 69 ல் கூறியுள்ளதை மேலே பார்க்கவும். மூலநாடியில் எழுந்த ஜோதியை நான்கு நாழி உள்ளே நாடி இருந்தால் பாலராகலாம் பரபிரம்மமாகக் கூட மாறலாம் என்று சிவவாக்கியர் கூறுவதும் இந்தக் கருத்தில்தான்.
