538. Where can we "see" the definitude?

Verse 538

காணவே நிச்சயத்தைக் காணவென்றால்

கண்ணே து வாயேது கருத்தங்கேது

பூணவே நின்று அண்டத் தப்பால் பாரும்

பொருந்தி நின்ற பூமியின் கீழிருப்பார் பாரு

ஊணவே நின்றகெதி பார்த்தாயானால்

உலகேது நீயேது நான்தான் ஏது

பேணவே பார்க்க அந்த மயமாய்ப் போச்சு

பேச்சற்ற சூக்ஷத்தின் காக்ஷிதானே

Translation:

To see the definitude

Where is the eye, where is the mouth, where is the mouth,

Remain and see beyond the macrocosm

He will remain below the earth, see

If you see the manner in which (he) stood to planting it firmly

Where is the world, what/where is you and what is me?

When looked carefully it became all darkness

The sight of the speechless subtlty.

Commentary:

The “nicchayam” or definitude mentioned in the last verse is being described here.  Agatthiyar says that Supreme Being or Param remains beyond the universe and below the other.  In other words, he is saying that the Divine is beyond the manifested universes.  If one realizes this then one will know that there is no separate world or living beings.  Everything is Param.  It will appear as darkness or indescribable.  It is the mauna or the entity beyond sound.  It is the supreme subtlety.

முற்பாடலில் கூறிய நிச்சயத்தை இப்பாடலில் விளக்குகிறார் அகத்தியர்.  பரம் எனப்படும் அது அண்டத்துக்கு வெளியே பூமிக்குக் கீழே அதாவது வெளிப்பாட்டுக்கு வெளியே, உள்ளது. இதை ஒருவர் அறிந்தால் உலகம், உயிர்கள் என்று தனியாக எதுவும் இல்லை, அனைத்தும் பரம் என்பதை உணர்வார்.  அதுவே காரிருள் அல்லது இது என்று குறிக்க முடியாதது, அதுவே சப்தத்தைக் கடந்த மவுனம், அதி சூட்சுமம், என்கிறார் அகத்தியர்.
